Memorial Day

Today we went to our annual Memorial Day breakfast. We were a little late because Kassie slept in, but there was plenty of food.
We brought Kassie's baseball bat and a few balls. Kassie and her friend Ellie enjoyed running but not around the bases, go figure. They also wanted to hit off of the tree stump even though it made hitting the ball more difficult.

Later on after lunch, Kassie and I had "Mommy Daughter Time" and went to the movies together. I should have taken a picture of us.
We waited for the weather to cool off before we took our usual evening walk around the neighborhood." Word to my mama, where's my ba ba?"
"Gosh, I'm cute!"

"Do you smell something?"

"I see you Mom."
"Peek a Boo"

"I'm Jane. Where's Tarzan?"

A Visit From Grandma Brenda

Zoo

Kassie and the kids.

Kassie was more interested in Grandma's necklace than the animals.
The cutest prairie dog I've seen.

"But I want ice cream too!"
Kassie wasn't in the mood to take a picture of our new dresses that Brenda made for us. We were the stylish duo.

My Mom

In honor of Mother's Day.....(good ideas don't always come on time)
Five things I love most about my mom
1. She sends me "Happy Happys", a card with a special note
2. Her salsa
3. She puts posters on the fireplace mantel and a huge welcome sign on the garage door when we visit
4. She is super grandma
5. She told me that I can do anything I set my mind to

A Fond Farwell

I missed my dad's big retirement party this past weekend, so I thought I would post a few pictures of the event.

My dad worked nineteen years for the same district in Arizona and has a total of THIRTY NINE years in education.
Absolutely amazing!!

Sweet glasses Mom!

Looking good Dad!

Birth Order

This is an email I received. Lee and I laughed!

BIRTH ORDER OF CHILDREN
1st baby: You begin wearing maternity clothes as soon as your OB/GYN confirms your pregnancy.
2nd baby: You wear your regular clothes for as long as possible.
3rd baby: Your maternity clothes ARE your regular clothes.

Preparing for the Birth:
1st baby: You practice your breathing religiously.
2nd baby: You don't bother because you remember that last time, breathing didn't do a thing. 3rd baby: You ask for an epidural in your eighth month

The Layette :
1st baby: You pre-wash newborn's clothes, color-coordinate them, and fold them neatly in the baby's little bureau.
2nd baby: You check to make sure that the clothes are clean and discard only the ones with the darkest stains.
3rd baby: Boys can wear pink, can't they

Worries:
1st baby: At the first sign of distress--a whimper, a frown--you pick up the baby.
2nd baby: You pick the baby up when her wails threaten to wake your firstborn.
3rd baby: You teach your three-year-old how to rewind the mechanical swing

Pacifier:
1st baby: If the pacifier falls on the floor, you put it away until you can go home and wash and boil it.
2nd baby: When the pacifier falls on the floor, you squirt it off with some juice from the baby's bottle.
3rd baby: You wipe it off on your shirt and pop it back in.

Diapering:
1st baby: You change your baby's diapers every hour, whether they need it or not.
2nd baby: You change their diaper every two to three hours, if needed.
3rd baby: You try to change their diaper before others start to complain about the smell or you see it sagging to their knees.

Activities:
1st baby: You take your infant to Baby Gymnastics, Baby Swing, and Baby Story Hour.
2nd baby: You take your infant to Baby Gymnastics.
3rd baby: You take your infant to the supermarket and the dry cleaner.

Going Out:
1st baby: The first time you leave your baby with a sitter, you call home five times.
2nd baby: Just before you walk out the door, you remember to leave a number where you can be reached.
3rd baby: You leave instructions for the sitter to call only if she sees blood.
At Home:
1st baby: You spend a good bit of every day just gazing at the baby.
2nd baby: You spend a bit of everyday watching to be sure your older child isn't squeezing, poking, or hitting the baby.
3rd baby: You spend a little bit of every day hiding from the children.

Swallowing Coins (a favorite):
1st child: When first child swallows a coin, you rush the child to the hospital and demand x-rays.
2nd child: When second child swallows a coin, you carefully watch for the coin to pass.
3rd child: When third child swallows a coin you deduct it from his allowance!

(The older the mother, the funnier this is!)
GRANDCHILDREN: God's reward for allowing your children to live!

Mother's Day

What a beautiful day in Ohio to celebrate Mother's Day. Lee fired up the camping grill and cooked Cilantro Burgers. We took a long walk as a family.

I love my kids.

Two things that have made motherhood special to me this year:

Kassie said, "You make me happy Mom!" when I asked her to think of a happy thought.

When Tommy smiled his biggest smile just by hearing my voice.

I'm So Cute!

Tommy is growing fast and is getting cuter by the day!

A Five Dollar Prize

Today Kassie and I went to a few garage sales and found this two sizes too big "princess dress". Kassie has been obsessed with dresses and the way they can twirl. She wanted to wear it as soon as we got home and yes, she took a nap in it.

"Mommy, it's so lovely!!"

Slate Run Metro Park

On Friday our friends the Carters took Kassie with them to Slate Run Metro Park. (Slate Run is a historical farm.)
Kassie had a fabulous time playing and exploring the farm with her friend Grace. They gathered eggs and saw piglets and many other farm animals. They were able to experience the joys of farm life.
