Daddy Daughter Date

Kassie and Lee had a little date to the Indianapolis Art Museum.  Kassie's the type of kid who enjoys those types of things.  She is always wanting to learn more about anything.  (especially animals, just a side note)  She has told me more than once we always pay more attention to the two younger kids.  I agree with her!  I am glad she can express those feelings!

Summer Summer Time

I wanted this summer to be low key, no crazy schedules and no commitments.  I figured they deserved it since next summer we will be MOVING!  I wanted freedom to spend time together and enjoy the short time off.  We spent most of our days at theY in the morning and the pool in the afternoon.

(This picture is hilarious!  Samantha is checking Tommy's bottom for something smelly!  I guess she learns it from us since we check her diaper all the time.)
Here are the kids when summer just started.  They are happily playing together, no fighting, no arguing and no tattling.  (Just a side note: since we have spent ALL summer TOGETHER, Kassie and Tommy are getting a little tired of each other.  Tommy is what I call the saboteur.  He likes to tease and try to be funny by taking Kassie's toys and running away while laughing.  This drives Kass bonkers!  It's a good thing school is starting soon.)
The zoo had a few new exhibits to check out.
The Children's Museum also had new exhibits too!
Tuesdays was Lunch Bunch, free lunch and a book for all the kids.  Afterwards the kids would play in the creek and look for minnows and get dirty.  Samantha didn't just get dirty, she got really really filthy.  I'm talking sand where the sun doesn't shine!
This summer has been out of the ordinary HOT and DRY!! (The creek in the pictures is almost completely dried up now) We have been on watering bans, experienced many days over 100 and no rain.  For me, I don't mind the heat.  I like hot weather.  It reminds me of Arizona, swimming all day, air conditioners buzzing and mom saying, "Shut the door, we're not cooling the outside!"  I think I've said the same thing about one hundred times!  Whats different about hot summers here as apposed to Arizona's is, the HUMIDITY!!!  It is crazy!  Just imagine you're in a hot and steamy sauna and that is Midwest summers.

Ortho Graduation Dinner

I can't believe Lee will graduate next year!  He started his fifth and final CHIEF year here in Indy on July 1!  The time has gone so fast but slow and painful at certain times.  (I would say third year was the hardest for me.  Samantha was born right before third year started.  Three kids was a big adjustment for us all.  Forth year was "easy" in my opinion and so far fifth year isn't bad either.  It's been nice, no weekends, no call, not bad!)
Finishing residency is truly bitter sweet!  It will be a huge accomplishment for Lee next July and I will be relieved be to done with the residency phase but saying goodbye to my friends here is going to be difficult.  Rochester, NY will be our next stop, July 2013.  For one year, Lee will complete a Hand and Upper Extremity fellowship.  I am looking forward to a new journey and making new memories.

A quick trip to the zoo!

First Trip to the Pool

When the weather starts warming up, the kids start anxiously waiting for the pool to open. I start thinking about how cold the water is going to be!!!  It has to be really really scorching hot for the pool to feel decent to me.  My excuse is, I'm from AZ and I'm used to bath water!  The kids love it though.  Samantha is not afraid of the water which makes her the first out of my kids so far. The other two would cry at her age when they were slashed in the face.

The End of First Grade

Kassie had a great year in first grade!  All of the first graders were given an "extra award" besides their First Grade Participation award.  I thought it was a perfect idea because everyone felt special and weren't left out.  Some of the awards were, Perfect Attendance, Outstanding Math or Reading Student, Team Player and Creativity Award.  Kassie received the Creativity Award.

Racccon Lake Year 2

Camping!  I wish I could say that I love camping!  I am going to be honest and admit it's not my favorite!  Now, don't assume it's because there are nasty bugs, hissing raccoons, smelly outhouses, or lots of dirt!  No that's not it at all, it's the bedtime issues that come with a non-sleeper 2 year old that does it!  It didn't help that we had quite the "young" (meaning: I am really inconsiderate and think no one else besides me exists) camping crew across the way from us.  They were so loud and kept snapping sticks and breaking branches and screaming and laughing.  Why didn't I bring ear plugs?!  Next time!
Ok, we did have a great time with our friends which made up for the horrid night sleep we all got!

The kids and I got there early and were the first ones there. Samantha was the expert stick collector .
She followed Kassie around and did all she was commanded to do!
Tommy was so ready for a nicely cooked hot dog by the fire.
The kids ran around like crazy animals. They played games and got super sweaty.
The next morning we went fishing. Kassie looks a little disappointed and impatient here but did end up catching the only fish of the day.
Tommy's just very smiley here because he got his own bag of Cheetos!
Samantha, Samantha, still in her pajamas picking up rocks and eating dirt! Gotta love her!
