Let the packing begin!!

I packed our first four boxes today.
Here are a few thoughts that crossed my mind while packing:
1. We have so much stuff....I mean JUNK!!
2. I wish we could hire a moving company.
3. We are seriously going to need a lot of boxes.
4. How about we just live in this apartment for the rest of our lives.
5. Packing stinks!

The T-man is ONE!

My baby boy is one year old and I can't believe it! He's turning into a little boy who is growing fast. Tommy is sweet and good natured. He loves to smile and laugh and is definitely a momma's boy. He is a master of disaster who gets into everything including all the kitchen drawers, whatever Kassie is playing with, and the toilet when the bathroom door is open. Tommy loves to throw balls and is obsessed with making noises of things like cars and Lee's shaver. Tommy gives the best hugs!

We celebrated Tommy's birthday by eating a not so attractive green and blue cake and opening presents.

This picture shows his true double chin. I love it!Tommy's just a little excited about seeing a present.

As expected, his favorite thing was the box everything came in.

A Little Bit of North Carolina Sunshine

We're back!!! The kids and I took a special trip to Charlotte, North Carolina to visit our friends the Carters. Thanks to Skybus, we got a great deal on our tickets and the flight was only an hour long, how could we pass it up.

Kassie was so excited to see Grace! At the airport, they gave each other a hug that lasted two minutes, but the funny thing was, after they let go they both just stood there wondering what to do next. It was really cute.

Kassie and Grace played outside and explored. They were constantly on the go, making up new games and using their imaginations. Their favorite thing to play was "Mermaids" the detail fo which are a mystery to me. I only heard the words, "Superman", and "superheroes" a few times.

Besides loving the bouncing zebra, Tommy followed me around and always had to make sure he knew where I was. He just didn't know what to think about all the girls. Then during Kevin's few appearances, Tommy just stared at him.

Layne and Rian were a hoot! Talk about cute girls. Rian made an escape while she was supposed to be getting dressed and became a little streaker. Layne was in charge of making sure everyone was in their right spots at the right time. She keeps Heather in check.

This is the only time all five kids were playing together at the same time. Did it last long? Hmm, no! A minute later Tommy hit Kassie with the shaker and Rian missed the drum and hit Tommy. The music was like loud banging mixed with crying, not bad if you are into that.

What did Heather and I do? Well, we chatted and I learned how to play Settlers. And yes, I beat Heather once, maybe, kind of. She cooked for me and we went out for dessert. Did I mention we got all five kids ready for church all by ourselves and were there early? Pretty cool!

Ahhh, there is nothing like spending time with good friends!
Kassie's parting words were, "Even though Grace and I are far apart, we can still love each other."

Tommy's First Hair Cut

We learned that giving a one year old a hair cut is no easy task but, with team work it can be done.
We strapped Tommy in his bath chair, grabbed the clippers, and buzzed away. When you are almost one, the last thing you want to do is sit and have some strange buzzing thing touch your head.
As you can see, Tommy's new do didn't turn out too bad. Lee mentioned that Tommy moved when he was trying to trim around his ears and he may have made a few uneven cuts, but you can't tell.
Here's Kassie cheering Tommy on during the cut.
We are thinking of opening a baby spa, with cuts and baths for all. Luckily, this picture is decent, with the shampoo bottle strategically placed.

You can't see, but I put some gel in Tommy's hair to spike it. What a little heart breaker!

Zoo Trip in February?

Do you love these glasses? They were Lee's dad's back in the day.

Yes, on Saturday the sun was shinning and it felt semi-warm out, so we jumped in the van and headed to the zoo. By the time we got there the wind must have kicked up a notch because walking through the parking lot Kassie asked if there was a tornado. (She still makes references to the Wizard of Oz and still worries about Dorothy's slippers.)

New Header

Do you like our new header? My friend Raven designed it for me. Wasn't that so thoughtful of her? Thanks again Raven.

Parking Lot Puddles

When it is 56 degrees out with lots of puddles and no rain, a three year old has to go outside to jump in puddles. She may have lost a boot a few times but that didn't stop her from having fun.

I almost forgot..

to mention that Lee is officially off crutches as of last Friday!! Here is Kassie in front of the machine he had to use 8-12 hrs a day for 6 weeks.

The Wizard of Oz

This weekend Lee and I took Kassie on a special date. We dropped Tommy off at our friend's house and headed to Drexel Theater for a showing of The Wizard of Oz. Gordon Gee the President of OSU sponsered the event for families. When we arrived, each of us got a name tag, a free poporn, a small drink and a coloring book.
This was Kassie's first time seeing the movie so she was pretty excited. She had her popcorn and "tasty drink" in hand. She said quite loudy during the movie that she, "didn't want to see the wicked witch," which made everyone around us laugh. Lee had to take her out of the movie during the part when the wicked witch was going to take Dorothy's slippers torwards the end. She was pretty upset and worried about the slippers. I had forgotten how intese the end gets and understood why she was scared.
After the movie, there was a reception where you could have your pictures taken with the characters from the show and eat delicious cupcakes. It was a lot of fun and I'm glad President Gee remembers us students with families.

The Eating Machine

While we were eating lunch, Kassie announced to Lee and I that Tommy is an eating machine. We both chuckled and told her we agreed.

Here he is trying to steal Kassie's food.
