Summer things I forgot to blog about

Kassie

  • fell out of bed in the middle of the night and split her head open on her night stand
  • didn't end up putting her head under water while "learning to swim"
Tommy
  • always trying to make people laugh but then on the flip side of things, he tries his hardest to make his big sister squeal while chasing after her with any sort of object that could represent a sword/gun/ or weapon
  • isn't screaming anymore but has moved to an open mouth sort of hiss type thing (nice)
Me
  • almost passed out from the sight of Kassie's blood when she fell out of bed (luckily Lee was home)
  • just became a Stampin Up Demonstrator (more info later)
  • I cheated and read the last Harry Potter book without reading the others. I saw the 6th movie and wanted to know what happens in the end. I can say it was the best book I've read in a very very long time! JK Rowling is absolutely brilliant!!
Lee
  • Orthopedic Trauma= work, work, on call, no sleep, work some more, and then on call again (you get the idea)
Other
  • there was a hawk in our back yard who was after the baby robins that fell out of our tree (I secretly hoped the hawk would take one of the neighbor's three yippers dogs instead. Is that bad??)

Kassie first day of her last year of preschool

Getting Kassie to love school has never been a problem. She is always so excited to go on a new adventure and start a new year of school. Here she is in her SLIM jeans that still look big on her.

Tommy on the other hand was NOT excited for Kassie to go to school. He wanted to go too and "play with the trucks" in the classroom. While Kassie was at school, Tommy painted her a picture with his favorite color, BLACK.

Summer Gardening

Our small square foot garden has done amazingly well this summer. We have enjoyed cucumbers, snap peas (which were Kassie's favorite), tomatoes, bell peppers, and green beans. I was pleasantly surprised when we even had enough tomatoes to can salsa. Canning salsa wasn't an easy task but it was worth every second of peeling, removing all the seeds, and squeezing every tomato from the garden.

Cartoon Kassie

Harry Potter

Tommy has a bit of a temper. He was mad about not getting his way and accidentally ran smack into the door. I believe the bruise is from the lock on the door handle. He quickly was given the name Harry Potter.

More Arizona Visitors

Lee's sister and her family came out to visit us from Tucson, Arizona. We loved having them and the weather was perfect for them, especially since Arizona has been so incredibly hot lately. You would never think visiting the midwest in the middle of July would actually be cool but we've had one of the coolest July's on record.

While Lizzie, Josh, and Clark were here, we visited a few places that were new to us like Eagle Creek. There is actually a beach where you can go swimming but as you can see, it was a light jacket kind of day. Too bad it was 68 degrees and breezy!

The Children's Museum is always a must and the new entrance was finished which was very cool with the dinosaurs climbing into the building.

There is a special King Tut exhibit at the museum that is new which we didn't see. You have to pay extra to go in but I hear it's pretty neat.

Well, of course we went to the Speedway. You can't come to the RACING CAPITAL OF THE WORLD and not go to the car museum. This time we went on the bus ride around the track.

We could have spent all day at Holliday Park. The playground equipment was awesome.

If you live in Indy I would recommend Trader's Point Creamery. It's only a few bucks to get in and the kids can walk around and explore. Plus they can learn and watch how to milk cows. There is also a Dairy Bar that was so fabulous. How can you go wrong with homemade ice cream!!! Kassie and Tommy picked chocolate ice cream.

Poor Clark! He hurt is knee the second day he was here. While going down a slide with his dad, his foot got caught on the side and his leg got twisted. He was pretty upset and couldn't put any weight on it so, we took him to the emergency room just to play things safe. Poor guy ended up with a splint, he wasn't too found of! No worries though, nothing was broken.
