Grandma Brenda's Visit Part 1

Last month Lee's mom came all the way from Arizona to visit us here in the Hoosier state. Lee had the week off so we explored different parts of Indiana that we had never been to before. We had so much fun and the kids loved the extra attention and I of course love the extra help!

Turkey Run State Park

Kassie was asking Lee for something. I think she wanted to go on a "hike".

Can you tell Tommy's afraid of bees??

The Children's Museum
We had to take Grandma to see the dinosaurs!

Momma Dinosaur Kassie sitting on her eggs.

Chuck E Cheese
Kassie filled up her chore chart so she picked to go to Chuck E Cheese.
Tommy was afraid of "the big scary mouse".

Part 2

Chicago, Illinois

We stopped to see the water but it was so windy and cold that we only stayed for a few minutes.
The Museum of Science and Industry
Can I just say, this museum was AWESOME! It was huge!!! There were so many cool interactive things for the kids and there was even stuff for adults. We just so happened to go on a day where admission was free. There are certain days during the year when it's free.

Indianapolis Motor Speedway
Brenda's trip would not have been complete if we didn't go to the Speedway. Indiana is home of the Indianapolis 500, right!! (We didn't go to the actual race but there is a museum that is in the middle of the racetrack that we visited.)
Shhh, don't tell, but Lee has a secret fascination with FAST cars.

Tommy was in heaven. He kept saying, "That one's my 'fravorite'!"

Tommy wasn't exactly happy to leave.
The Speedway wasn't exactly Kassie favorite place to be. If you know Kassie she does not like loud sounds and as you can imagine, those race cars are very, very loud!

Indianapolis Zoo
And to finish off Grandma visit, we took her to the zoo where she got to pet a shark, experience true Midwest humidity, and watch the kids ride a pony,

I Turned 30

Yes, it is true. I reached the ripe old age of 30 last month. The week before my birthday, I was dreading turning 30. For some reason I was thinking my glory days were over and I would officially be..........OLD! I have to say it wasn't horrible turning 30. I feel I've learned a lot about life and yes, I still have MUCH more to learn but with age and experience comes wisdom, right?? I do drive a mini van, pay a mortgage, wear "mom jeans" on occasion, my hair is no longer naturally blond, and I have few extra wrinkles but that's ok.
Life is good!

The Guest Room

I am finally finished with the guest room!! Hooray!! It took me three weeks to get all the touch ups finished and paint stuff put away. Why so long, you ask? Well, I only painted during the day and as you can imagine, having two little helpers was quite the challenge. My painting days are not quite over yet, but I'm getting close. I have Tommy's room and the bathroom downstairs left to finish.

Kassie's Last Days of Preschool

Kassie had a busy year of preschool but made lots of friends and learned so much!

Kassie loved Miss Michelle at Light and Life. She was so kind and patient.

For Kassie's mom's group preschool we had a mini graduation. They made their own hats and received a diploma.

Tommy came along too and was happy he found a stick.

Time Out for Women

Last month, I had the opportunity to travel to Northern Kentucky with a group of friends to attend Time Out for Women. It was amazing, inspirational, and unforgettable! The speakers and musical performers were amazing. Sheri Dew was there along with Hillary Weeks and Jenny Oaks Baker. I am so grateful Lee was off work to watch the kids while I enjoyed two days of girl time. It actually was the first night I was away from Kassie and Tommy, believe it or not. All I can say is, I need to do that more often!
